Drawings on marble floor

January 2010
Artwork by S: 3 years 4 months

S drew on the floor with a whiteboard marker pen. At first hubby wanted to disallow him. However, we both agreed that we didn't want to stifle his creativity, and thus allowed him to draw on the marble floor, as we had seen Julian Beever, the sidewalk artist's realistic 3D artwork and were inspired by it. Click here for pictures of Julian Beever's sidewalk paintings. E also joined in with his own floor drawings.

Jan 2010 - Drawing faces

Artwork by S: 3 year 4 months

S drew faces and people. He also drew other pages of circles and lines which I can't decipher.

Colouring

November 2009
Artwork by S: 3 years 1 month

He used to colour non-stop between 20 - 40 pieces of colouring pages at a time, wearing out the oil pastels in a very short time. He will usually colour the whole picture in one colour. He was very good at handling the oil pastels and "pressing" the oil pastels that the pictures always came out smooth.

Experimenting with paints

When S first started using paints, he was just doodling and experimenting with the colours. Here's a picture of both brothers painting together.

Coloring a book

September 2009
Artwork by S: 3 years old

Here is S with his pre-reading book that he has colored every single page with oil pastel. It covered all the drawings in the book and it was difficult to see the pictures beneath.

At this time, he hasn't started drawing yet. Merely coloring.

Clocks

February 2010
Artwork by S: 3 years 5 months

Me: "Is this a UFO?"
S: "No, it's a clock."
And he proceeded to draw several clocks.

Drawing faces

Below are some of the few drawings of faces that S has drawn.

This is a little light, as he used an orange highlighter pen to draw. It looks like a monkey.

Drawing Fire Engines

February 2010
Artwork by S: 3 years 5 months

Here is S' version of fire engines. He likes to draw a thin line to represent the road beneath the vehicle, and it is usually a slope. He also drew "bumpy roads".

First foray into drawing vehicles

February 2010
Artwork by S: 3 years 5 months

When S first started drawing, he only drew vehicles. He just loved anything with wheels. He started drawing when he just turned two 2 years old and he used to ask me to draw for him cars. After drawing a few in 2D, he started drawing on his own. The first vehicles that he drew were rectangular vehicles with wheels at the bottom. They were trucks, cars and trains. Below were his drawings when he was around 3 years 5 months.

He drew faces on the vehicles, like those that he saw on Thomas and Friends and Disney Cars
